Patty is 5'4 and tried on the 2x for the black. She felt the 3x would have been more comfortable for her just because of the fit of the dress. This is not an oversized dress. It is a knit maxi. It does have a functional drawstring. I an 5'6 and felt comfortable in the size that I tried on. It is totally preference. I wore slides with mine and so did Patty, but cute tennis's would work with this too. It could easily be layered as we transition into other seasons or be worn with booties later.
